Home, procrastinating on going to work.
Too often.
Absolutely not.
Politics (not really, but you guys are fascinating once you get going).
Absolutely.
Food and drink.
No.
Seriously, I'm in the living room.
Yup.
Maybe.
Let them ride. They add a little spice.
Um, no. Sorry.
More.
Nope.
You.
You.
Thanks for asking. And sorry I don't know how to do bullets in here.

you forgot "what are you wearing?" what sort of lame blog is this?
Alan - May 11, 2006 12:30 pm
It's my lame blog. Good question, though.
Mike - May 11, 2006 1:21 pm
I'm Mike. I read Daily. If you were less manic, I would only read every second day. I don't think I ever read that many blogs anyway, so still about the same number of you who act as my own little news & views aggregator -- I let the blogosphere come to me.
Bring back Dates In Stone!!
Alan - May 11, 2006 2:20 pm
Wow - there's a long memory. I give you Dates in Stone.

Of course!

Politics

Sure, why not?

Politics and disdain for blogging!

Don't we all? You're a blogger. Of course you go on.

My own little world

Usually

Definitely

- Location? Kingston, Earl and Wellington, in my dingy yet homey rented appartment.
- Manic? Never thought so, but now that I'm thinking about it...
- Topics? Politics, law, history, and the random stuff.
- Portland? Don't think so.
- Topics listed? All of the above.
- On and On? Occasionaly. But if you do, I just move on.
- Location, really? Really, I thought I was pretty clear.
- Comments? Usually.
- Stalker? Don't think so.
- Wackos? Err on the side of deleting. I like the tone of conversation here, lets keep it that way.
- Beer Blog? Very rarely, but I feel like I should more often.
- Blogs now vs. then? Not even close. Right now, I'm down to 4 regulars versus about 3 dozen two years ago, I also seem to have ceased writing my own blog.
- Blog regret? Not any more given the above.
- Alan v. The Flea? Alan.
- Alan v. D.J? Alan definitely.
- Keep it up. I guess... if you want.
Flea - May 11, 2006 5:44 pm
This sample of Gen-X commentariate being so mistaken about the Alan v Flea question only confirms me in my opinion about blogs being a revolution in communications comparable with the printing press, invention of paper and the transition from nonverbal by our proto-human ancestors.
Alan - May 11, 2006 6:06 pm
That reminds me of the recent morse coding spree. And somewhere I have a Gutenburg-based bloggy alphabet started...here it is. You could do cuneiform but I think the Flea has hit upon what I really need to investigate: caveman painting based bloggy text.
- .... .- - .-- --- ..- .-.. -.. -... . . -..- -.-. . .-.. .-.. . -. - .-.-.- !!!

There. I started to work out a lexicon and think I have the most important ones already worked out:

John Gushue - May 11, 2006 7:58 pm
I read Gx40 daily, or near-daily. It's never struck me that Alan is manic, nor do I care much what he writes about. In fact, I like being surprised. I follow the comments inconsistently, but especially when it looks like a dustup is brewing. I haven't been reading the Beer Blog much, sorry. I read more blogs now than I did two years ago, but I follow fewer regulars, if that makes sense. Life is too short for regrets about blogs. (Although I'm going to stop this comment to go read a book.) Re: Flea: Truth lies between Fleadom and unfunky Kingston. I would never, on the other hand, bet against David Janes (school ties and all). Nothing else. Keep at it!
ry - May 11, 2006 11:42 pm
Where are you? Home, but not home. Indiana will never be home. That'll always be CA.
How often do you read? Thrice daily. Morning check. Lunch check. After dinner check. More if I've been actively commenting.
Do you think I am a bit manic? Oh please.
What are your favorite topics? Don't know. Just typically a cool place to come and hang out at.
Should I encourage portland to write more? Why not?
Which topics do you prefer: food and drink, politics, disdain for blogging, sports? Sports. Not a foodie. Politics typically is over contentious(though educational).
Do I go on and on? Huh?
No, really...where are you? Not quite at mid-life, but there's always a crisis.
Do you follow the comments? Sometimes. Mostly if it's a topic I like or have commented on. There's more than I few I don't have much interest in.
Are you a stalker?
Oh yes. I'm waiting outside your room at Ohio State.
Should I delete the wacko comments or let them ride? Depends. Sometimes the wacko comments lead to much hillarity. Discretion is a good thing.
Do you also read our sister station A Good Beer Blog? Nope. People with alcoholism in the family really shouldn't tempt themselves with the afliction.
Do you read as many blogs as you did two years ago? More. I really wasn't into the whole blog thing two years ago.
Is your time with blogs time you later regret giving to blogs? No. Reading isn't obsessive for me. If something comes up I skip a few days.
Is the Flea right or me? On what? Hotness of babages? the Flea, easily. Music? Hmm, dunno. Flea get's the 'now' but you get the childhood memories. Hard call.
Is David Janes right or me? Who? Sorry. Not an obsessive blog reader. DOn't read everyone.
Anything else? Coco Crisp.
David Janes - May 12, 2006 7:41 am
Ouch. Now that hurts.
ry - May 12, 2006 10:17 pm
"Ouch. Now that hurts."
Oh man, now *I* feel bad. Sorry David. Wasn't meant to be a tuna to the face, my good man. I'm just not that obsessive about reading everything blog-friends tell me to read. That's how I avoid feeling bad about spending time reading.
Sorry David.
Fine, I'll go read you now. Does that help any?
