What was better? Watching UConn lose on the last shot in overtime or watching Florida dominate throughout? Another four days of great games. In any event, no first seeds go to the final four. How are we doing on the questions:
1. Who will beat Duke? What round? [5 points for each question.]No one gets any points as we all assumed they would suck less.2. What are the main colour other than white of the final four teams? [5 points for each colour - say blue once and it counts for one.]The colours are green for George Mason, blue for UCLA, purple for LSU and blue for Florida. Hans: 5/20; Alan: 10/20; Rob: 5/20 (though I am sympathetic to and will entertain arguments around yellow).3. One point each team in the second round of 32 teams?Hans: 23/32; Alan: 24/32; Rob: 22/32.4. Top scorer in tourney? [25 points.]A three way tie for zippo. With all picks out Hans's pick had 60 points, my pick had 34 points, Rob's pick had 33 points. Glen Davis for LSU has more.5. Dark horse - name the team seeded 9 to 16th in a bracket to go the farthest. Ties settled by most points in the losing game. [17 points.]I picked Alabama, Hans Texas A+M and Rob Bucknell. All went out in round #2 thus creating a tie. The rule is: Ties settled by most points in the losing game. Bucknell scored 43 against Memphis, Texas A+M scored 57 against LSU and Alabama scored 59 against ULCA.6. Essay question: 100 or fewer words on why you like the NCAA tournament? [10 points for the best answer, 5 extra if captured in 5-7-5 haiku format (Ed.: remember to capture a moment and use nature imagery.)]Too early.7. Two points for each team in the sweet 16.Hans: 20/32; Alan: 16/32; Rob: 20/32.8. Three points for each team in the final four.Rob gets 3 points for UCLA. Hans and I get zippo.9. Five points each team in the championship game.Too early.10. In 25 words or less, which school has the funniest name and why? [10 points].Too early.11. Describe one really freaky thing that will happen. 5 points if it bears some resemblance to any actual event, 10 points if there is a strange coincidence between your story and reality and 20 points of the coincidence is more eerie than strange.Too early.12. Ummm...I'm thinkin'...I'm thinkin'...Uh, how about 10 points for the winner?Zippo-zippo-zippo.

OK, let's change the subject and talk about something really important, and I don't mean large yams (c'mon, everybody knows size doesn't matter. Really! Small yams are just as good)
What I mean is, Cornell and Wisconsin played one game that took about seven weeks to finish. Scoreless until sadly one team had to lose. Cornell's team has all these Canadians, except for the magnificent goalie, who is from TEXAS.

Sorry. That was the college hockey championships. Not basketball or curling.

Its been a freaky March Madness. I like George Mason. And who can't like a player nicknamed "Big Baby"?
