I listened to this commentary on same-sex marriage this morning on NCPR and I thought it was one of the best bits of radio I have ever heard.
It made me think about how CBC radio used to provide lucid and thoughtful commentary like it.

So little airtime, so much power.

Yes, but that thoughtful commentary disguises the fact that for every guy like that there's somebody like my mom who just thinks that "people just need a father and a mother, dear, that's just the way things aught to be" and then tries to back it up with some pseudobiblical junk that they made up from half-remembered Sunday school lessons. These are the majority of the haters, and they're not amenable to rational argument because they're not all that rational. So while it was nice to hear a devout Christian talking sense, I don't know if anybody who doesn't already agree would listen or care. Yah, he's getting air time (and good for NCPR), and yes CBC did an in-depth retrospectives of biffies this morning, but ... I don't have a but, really, I'm just saying.

That is fine but when was the last time you heard anything like that on the radio?
