The Flea will have me eating my words the incredible contact being made at the Trevor Greene post has got me quite amazed. I am also amazed that (through the flu or whatever it is) I am able to learn despite the CRTC's sanitizing of the airwaves, via Syracuse.com's blog, that SU is well ahead against UConn. Two very different levels of seriousness for sure but I am also sure that Trevor would be glued to the game as well, remembering a crammed Wardroom TV lounge at Kings for both the Georgetown and Villanova wins in '84 and '85. Anyway, this is where it stands:
SU 49, UConn 35Maybe I have this future all wrong and it will be something different. You read that headline right folks. Syracuse leads 49-35 with 16:41 left in the game. The Orange is on a 8-1 run. Gerry McNamara just capped the run with his first made basket of the day. He buried a 3-pointer in transition off a great feed from Demetris Nichols. Nichols was breaking ahead of the pack and took an long outlet from Arinze Onuaku. As several UConn defenders hustled back, Nichols shoveled a pass to McNamara at the 3-point line.
Minutes later: Oh. Me. Nerves.
Gerry McNamara is a hero again. He just made a 3-pointer one foot behind the NBA 3-point line with 5.5 seconds left to send the game to overtime.
Overtime's Conclusion: Woooooooot! WE'RE GOING TO DISNEYLAND!!!! WE'RE GOING TO DISNEYLAND!!!!
The Orange bench erupted and sprinted onto the court. Terrence Roberts picked up McNamara and put him in his arms. Other players hugged on the court. Louie McCroskey threw the game ball in the air and it is now stuck in the scoreboard hanging above the court.
Now Canada needs only to beat Mexico this evening for an extraordinary week of the underdog.

You may not be shocked to learn I have relatives in Upton St Leonards; a cheese throw from Cooper's Hill.

I had a sense of that from your deft use of the semi-colon.
