A beautiful summer weekend and what is there better to do than watch TV. Here are the weekend's games:
- Germany vs. Sweden
- Argentina vs. Mexico
- England vs. Ecuador
- Portugal vs. Netherlands
Tomorrow, a demoralized and weak England further weakened by injuries and that sinking feeling that another early exit will be followed by gnashing of teeth again could lose to the South Americans but the real prize is the Dutch-Portuguese game as both could easily be final four teams. Plus all the yellow carded players will be back in. I still say Holland but I have a Portuguese jersey on stand-by just in case. Any country that gives us vintage port and 30 year old tawny port not to mention piri-piri sauce has to be respected...which has reminded me how much I miss the pork bifanas of the sadly closed Greek Village.

GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! Argie Rodriguez for the Argies from Argie in the 98th minute or so. Lively volley from his own chest outside of the box. Wow. Glad I watched the game I did not plan to watch. I appear to be planning to watch only the ones that turn out dull.
If I were Swedish, "Lucic" would now be the nickname for goatboy:

I haven't seen a whole Argentina match yet. I keep missing them because of social events, work and a wedding anniversary. I think they are well on course to win.

I think a full Holland v. a full Netherlands will be the real test, Jim. I have a lot of faith in Van Der Sar, despite who pays his regular cheque, and they have the strongest collapsing defense I have seen yet - plus a good break out. In fact, they do sort of play like it is hockey.
