Too much serious talk this week. The long weekend is coming up so here is one of the more important ska tunes from my youth from an Old Grey Whistle Test broadcast of The Specials circa 1980. I feel so Flea-like using YouTube and all. Especially when it has a public health message and dance beat.
More Specials goodness here after you click on the imbedded Tube of You below.

I remember in grade 6, my friend Eric (who had moved to PEI briefly from Toronto) got a record by The Specials for Xmas from one of his relatives from up there. We hated it, at the time, being much more into Kiss and Queen. Is glam rock more appealing than ska to 11-year-olds? Or were we just not ready for the rock-steady groove-ulous-ness in 1980? Of course, 4-5 short years later, following our introduction to punk, we were all over the Specials, the Beat, Madness, etc..

I played "Too Much Too Young" for Ewaninho just last evening; he seemed to like it.
His favourite tune seems to be "Rat In The Kitchen" by UB40.
