Are the three last teams in all surprises? They shouldn't be but we get so used to the same old same old and Italy is mired in a sea of corruption...a sea of corruption...which is one place not to rent a cottage near I suppose...yet they win. No, I would have not thought it would go this way and if France makes it for an all-Riveria series (who will Monaco support?) some folk out there are going to do very well with their pool winnings.
But that is the game. What really matters are the jerseys. I have not watched much Italy but I was very disappointed to see they, like Ghana and others, went with the kit from Puma and its dumb shoulder logos. Look at this gent, Fabio Grosso of Italy, whose name translates as "far too fabulous". Have a look at the little puma on the chest, the one on the left should and the one on the right. Little pumas running round his head. Like tweety birds in a cartoon after the guy gets bonked on the head. And in yellow, too. Everyone knows the Italians are azure blue with white as the secondary colour - sky with a little puff of cloud but not enough to displease as you sit by the beach nibbling on seafood and sipping Moretti. It is a doubly dumb jersey. So I pick Italy to lose against either - and that even in the face that I secretly understand that David Rocco's Dolce Vita contains levels actually styled after my own life.

Oh the hyperbole! It makes me think you were supporting Germany in that one.
But I do have to agree with you on the unis. The Azzuri were much slicker in their Diadora outfits last time. Look for a heavy influx of Under Armour gear in 2010.

No, I am quite content with the Germans going golfing or going wherever Germans go when they get the boot. I am really backing Portugal I think though.

Oh no, not Portugal. From what I've seen of them so far they break a leg if they get looked at by opponents. Very unimpressed with the golden generation, Figo included.

I think the keeper is the best. That, of course, means France will win 5-0.

I do like to delegitimate beauty with bullshit. Thanks for stopping by to remind me that we Celts kicked Roman butt back then with superior metal skills.
