Guess where in the world this quotation refers to:
"I'm fed up with being abused by governments bending the rules or just avoiding the law entirely. They've abused their powers and they've done it simply to attempt to keep themselves in power."
Hint:
"The issue has dumbfounded ... political scientist [Ed.: name kept secret] who labelled the government's actions "quite bizarre and quite backward."Hint #2. It isn't New York state where they have lightning "yes or no answer only" rounds in their political debates list yesterday's including this passage:
I heard this on the radio and it was amazing politics. And guess who is 70% ahead in the polls there.Q. Mr. Suozzi, can you achieve universal health care in the state — again, universal health care in the state — if you are elected governor?
SUOZZI. You want a yet or no for that?
Q. Yes or no.
SUOZZI. I can’t say I’ll try?
Q. Yes or no.
SUOZZI. Could I say —
Q. Yes or no.
SUOZZI. Uh —
Q. Yes or no, Mr. Suozzi.
SPITZER. You want a lifeline?
SUOZZI. I’ll try. I can’t answer that.
Q. Yes or no, Mr. Suozzi.
SUOZZI. No.
Q. Mr. Spitzer?
SPITZER. Yes.
SUOZZI. Now you have to add another $10 billion to his proposals.

Harper's response to the seemingly deliberate Israeli destruction of a 20-year-old UN observing post in South Lebanon: "I'm satisfied that it was an accident."

Hint #3.

Sheesh, it only took two minutes on a Google News search to find it! But I thought that's cheating, so I didn't enter.

okay, but who is ahead in the polls in ny state: spitzer or suozzi?
Alan - July 28, 2006 8:26 am
Hey - anyone who can pull out the "You want a lifeline?" comment has to be the winner.

I don't think it's such a bad thing that Spitzer is ahead in the polls by 70%. He's highly qualified for the seat of Governor and is a helluva lot better than who we currently have in power. I would even say I'm optimistic that he could change some of way decision-making is done at the state level in terms of our current abomination referred to as "three men in a room."

Right on, Julia. Bet he wants to run for the White House one day too.
