A Time Team Dig in Coventry
I mentioned this show two years ago - Lord, I have blogged too long.
Time Team from Channel 4 is a really good archeology show set in the UK where a site gets a preliminary viewing each week - lots of fodder like the above for anyone who thought of a career in digging up stuff all day, sun or rain, summer or winter...starts to sound miserable. But the host, Tony Robinson, is the former dupe from the Blackadder series, Baldrick and adds a good "holy cow!" response to things when appropriate making it safe to want to get into the ditch. Last night's episode was from the 2003 series and showed the uncovering of a previously unknown 4th century Roman villa in southern England. I think plowing in the field had uncovered floor mosaics leading to the discovery.
High neato factor and a good pace to keep elementary school kids interested. Mondays at 7 pm EST.

One of the aspects of living in England that I miss - other than the beer - is that feeling that the past was beneath my feet.
My parents home in the Cotswolds was in an area that was as popular with the Romans as it is now. Villas were ubiquitous and roads all over.
In the city where I worked, every new building site opened up a glimpse of the past.
Maybe another thing I miss is the mean humor as exemplified by Blackadder - the relationship between Baldric and his master is an epic
