But the Bill of Rights, being merely an act of Parliament, is surely overridden by the patriated constitution, yes? And even in those brief, glorious pre-Trudeau years, was already seen as more a declaration of intent than a binding act of legislation.

They are two different co-existing things. It is really just the internal uselessness of the Bill of Rights that causes its weakness.
