There are few things that really make my day. I am a pretty contented person and not much of one for the yearnings for what is not at hand. But. A bap and a slice of square sausage. Or is it a square of sliced sausage? Whatever it is, it is a meat loaf of unlean beef, bread crumb and some mild spices and is eaten on a "bap" - a light rye bun.
Anyway, this is Scots soul food and on my 13 hour round trip from Kingston to Stratford to Owen Sound to Kingston this weekend, we passed by the Empire Butchers of Durham and hit the brakes. Heaven. Irn Bru, Penguin biscuits, haggis, steak pies, all sorts of sweeties and ploughman pickles. Go there. Buy lots. Then say "Acht! Hoots! The Noooooooo!"

Saving the used tea bags eh?.. A true Scot and it takes one to spot one. I enjoy similar tastes but have been culturally coruppted by consuming caraway rye with the various spiced meats. While you snack, muse upon this logic...

Speaking of haggis, where can one find a decent one Kingston these days? Only 16 days to go and I understand Willow Creek Foods has closed ... :-(
