We have become so used to these warnings about computer viruses, this one set to strike tonight at midnight has not really met with the hysteria it might have just a few years ago despite its promise of mayhem:
Computer security firms are bracing themselves as the moment approaches when the Nyxem virus will strike. On 3 February the bug will start erasing Word documents, spreadsheets and other common files on infected PCs. Compromised machines will also be used as launch platforms to help the virus seek out fresh victims. Because the virus is known to be lurking on more than 300,000 PCs, this scanning could generate large amounts of net traffic as it activates...Thankfully, I only use my computer as a toaster appliance between me and the Internet with a hobby on the side as photo repository. Would the world really be worse off if all the power point files disappeared? The virus only affects Windows users who must open an infected attachment on an e-mail message to fall victim. The creators of the virus have tried to trick people into opening the attachments by falsely claiming they contain a variety of pornographic images or videos.

Do you Photoshop, Alan? One of the file types targetted by this worm (it's not a virus) is the PSD document that Photoshop uses for it's files. THAT would be tragic to the owner of a machine used as a "photo repository".

I am a non-photoshopper. Again, my incapacity saves me again.

Not from redundantly repeating yourself, though ... ;-)

People might think I am irritated by the comments from porland but everytime I open one up I smile and remember we have Coco and he is six years younger than Johnny Damon for 25% of the cost. Jeese, I am ever going to have a hate on for Damon come the first head to head game in May.
