Good Lord. At least they are honest about not really being...shall we say...on point:
So Stompin' Tom is gone, and so are the old grainy family photos. Instead of looking back at the fond memories, this year's P.E.I. tourism campaign will look at how spending time on the Island can be a life-altering experience. "It will be very much less on what product Prince Edward Island has" says Greg Arsenault, director of marketing for Tourism P.E.I., "versus what does an individual get from a vacation. The trick will be to show how Prince Edward Island changes people."Will this be subject to some sort of cross-reference to reality if it is not based on what the place has? Will there be equal time given to those wanting to show other sorts of "changes"?
Was there ever more blantant branding? But you have to love this confirmation of the province's chosen advertising consultant's skill: "Grey Worldwide is known for some memorable commercials. For instance, it's behind the Dairy Queen ad where the father gets kicked in the groin by a baby while fighting over a "blizzard" ice cream snack."

<h ref="http://parkdaledoris.com">Parkdale Doris</a> will touch on this in tomorrow's broad/podcast. It's so easy to find fodder when you have a tourism department like we do on PEI. Oh what fun I shall have this year!!

And the flowing rivers that lead down to the bayou where you can see your reflection and understand what life is all about...

You know, it is so nutty it just might work. I saw one of these Gentle Island ads and, for all the guff about the campaign being very much less on what product Prince Edward Island has...that is pretty much what it does have - even if that is not something people think will attract people (except apparently the people now hired to attract people.)

I trust this is not going to be part of the Gentle Island ads.
