Well, the Red Sox had a nice outing last night. They still trail the evil Yanks, who just bought some talent for the stretch here. It seems like any year that the Sox lead most of the spring and summer they get to August and September and.....
and the hard part, too, is that the wild card race in the AL has at least 2 other contenders (although of course the Sox want to win the division). Wish there were 2 wild card spots, then they could have a sudden death game or short series of 3 while the division winners relaxed for a couple of days.

So, how did it work out in the end? Lots of zapping?

Wowza. I saw the storm coming when I was on my way out for my nightly run. When I got home I told my wife to some outside and we sat in lawnchairs watching it roll in frmo the north. the entire northern half of our view was a huge black expanse of clouds and lightning.
When it hit it was like the hurricane videos you see on cnn.
Then I stupidly played in the rain like an idiot, came in the air conditioned house, got cold, realized I hadn't showered then mid hair washing lightning struck nearby and I almost fell through the shower curtain trying to get out (remembering the dont shower during a thunderstorm bit). wow

A fellow lightning addict called me to make sure I was watching, so I grabbed the camera and ran outside to watch. What a show! Then, the wind blew up and the entire contents of our front porch tried to leave. :-)

I was on a patio on College Street. Moved inside before the rain started but two women stayed out in it, one in a white dress. Coupla fellas at the table by the window kept trying to get her to stand up. Luckily the rain stopped long enough for me to make a dash for the car and get home before it hit again. I don't mind the lightning, it's the thunder that scares me. And I didn't know about not showering during a thunderstorm.

Perhaps, cm, that young woman needed a couple of large menus to cover up and make an escape? Or maybe she had other plans and was hoping someone liked what they saw and asked her out?
Well, here at Casa GR a wave of gentle air blew through this am and it felt great as sleeping and working have been impossible. But as I settled in next to the kiln (2000 degrees inside at the moment, and rising, about 110-115 in the studio) to sweat and make stuff, the radio gave dark predictions of massive storms. I cut the grass instead, and now the sky is satisfyingly black and ominous looking. Should I pretend it is Saturday and call it Miller Time?

One more summery thought: can you guess what it is like living with 2 large black dogs in a heat wave? Let's just say that the usual shedding process is greatly accelerated, with enough fur on the carpet to make a new dog every day.
Man, I don't smell too good, time for a dip and I think I will call it Saturday afternoon and kick back.

Someone did eventually drive by and pick her up. More storms predicted for here as well, and the sky is darkening as I type. I'm thinking a quiet night at home, skipping the walk, and having the beer I couldn't have last night as I was driving.
