"FOR THE HIGH HEAT INDEX VALUES...ESPECIALLY OVER THE FINGER LAKES REGION"
Great. Nice to see my neighborhood singled out this way. Let's just say that the kilns are NOT on today.

Wow - that is like an opposite snow day. Your job demands you stop working on a day that demands a cold beer so that you can have a cold beer!<p>I'd get to Buttermilk Falls if I were you.

Gah, its yucky. Yes, like in a blizzard, a person prepares, relaxes, rides it out. Like going to Borders Bookstore for the day, ostensibly to shop for cds and books...so cold you almost need a sweater.
OK, get this, Channel 10 (central NY) reports:
"After seeing the warmest overnight on record, we have another hot one on tap today. An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect"
The warmest overnight on record! No wonder you said you felt like you spent the night hiking with a 50 lb pack!
Worst of all, the radio informs us:
Yanks move past Red Sox to first place.
Crumbs.

I have the misfortune of working in a building that my employer considers "expendable", so they shut off our air conditioning (along with several other buildings) yesterday afternoon. It was 33C (about 1000F) in my office when I got in this morning. Ugh.

Entirely co-incidently, Percy Saltzman appears to have started a blog last week! Sadly, CBC Halifax's own king of the big chalk, Rube Hornstein, left us three years ago.

I'm coping by spending as little time at home as possible. Any time that is spent at home is either out on the balcony where it's cooler or in front of the fan. This is the first time I've had to put the fan on high.
