Very nice, Alan. I'm not really sold on the bumblebee colours, but we have to work with what we have, don't we?

Catch phrases embroidered above the closure are all the rage these days, how about "Because real men play with balls"? ;-)

This is a simple society for playing catch: a pre-logo, pre-branding, pre-sponsorship sort of society. Pre-non-natural fibres as well. I should check out the sports hall of fame to see if there are any old caps around with different colour schemes. Yellow with a black K would be absolutely wicked. We need to have a session.

Gordo -

Oh, man ... Yellow with a black K made out of melton wool. Way wicked.

Alan -

See - that is exactly the sort of enthusiasm a society for playing catch needs.

I have images of the type of hats used in the illustrations for "Casey at the Bat" running through my head. Something like this perhaps.

This may be a valuable tool for organizing your daydreaming.

Certain Kansas City A's caps might do the trick nicely.

Alan -

Does this have potential as a general scheme?

Gordo -

Speaking as whose headgear collection only includes one baseball-style cap (NZ All Blacks), I think I could wear that ... :-D

Alan -

I have received word that David Sommerstein of NCPR, the inspiration for this movement, has agreed to play at least the role of "technical advisor" and perhaps even figure head. We may soon have to actually have a meeting.

I am not one to wear caps as they ruffle my neatly moussed coif, however in the spirit of such an auspiscious society, I would purchase and wear one, if only to attract questions from bar-worker chicks on Friday afternoons:

"how come all you guys aer wearing those hats..."

Alan -

We likely need curling sweaters in Borussia Dortmund colours for the off season.

Go to ballcap.com and prepare to be inspired. You design it, they can make it, out of wool with leather sweatbands, no less. The more you wear the cap, the better it fits. I have two (one is the green KC A's cap - with white button, that most people don't remember nowadays but which was part of the cap's charm) and they're amazing. A bit pricy, but well worth it.

You, sir, sound like a man champing at the bit to lead The Syracuse Society for the Playing of Catch, a division of Societies for Playing Catch International Co.

gr -

I suppose you might need a minor league POC too? Sign me up, then.
Best thing about moving in next door to kids is that they insist on daily wiffle ball games. Wiffle ball is highly underated. International leagues could be formed, cool headgear obtained, and nifty baseball shirts too. Then a world series held with bar-b-q and chips and frosty ones. In my backyard.

Alan -

I think I am doomed. K-C hat in blue on the way.

Mike -

Are you considering a '500-Up' division?

Alan -

I think 500-up and the related but not completely understood game trapball are both in line with catch. I am considering "team synchronized catch" but have to figure out what that means before I mention it to anyone...damn...just did.
