First, a short play:
He: "7:58! Why didn't you set the alarm!?!"You demands will now be met:
She: "Because you packed the alarm yesterday!!!"Exeunt
[Crowds : applause, ovation, curtain call, many rushed bows]
- Ho Hum
- Sure, just like in Romania.
- Who argues in the comments over clouds?
- Admit it - You'll be following this all day.
- Oh, dear - but do people go?
Exeunt.
Update: Nicholas reports on dealing with a fanatic and stunned example of a wee cross-logical bit of culinary bigotry:
I've occasionally been accused of "liking certain cultural foods only to appear more pro-multicultural". I now have another justification for liking curry (other than it tastes really good)...
Gee - I eat curry because travel within the British Empire, that hotbed and fourndation of multi-culturalism, was a huge park of my family history - and it still is with family and friends throughout the Commonwealth and other areas of influence. Grannie fed it to mom and mom to us because Grannie's Dad, Sgt. Major Tully, fell it love with it in India while on tour there. Celebrate it. Get your bottles of jerk sauce and Angostura, too, along with some NZ lamb and Aussie Shiraz.

Now to figure out how to get the cricket scores on my google home page.
cm - August 4, 2006 2:54 PM
Bullets may be flying, but comments certainly aren't. Where <i>is</i> everyone?
Alan - August 4, 2006 2:57 PM
Look outside. It is Friday before a long weekend. This is usually a dead day.
cm - August 4, 2006 4:16 PM
Right. Meanwhile the rest of us still have 1:44 until happy hour. Sigh.
Alan - August 4, 2006 4:18 PM
I am sad to inform you that I have only 1:13 remaining until that good event. I expect Gary has been there since he booked out of the kiln room yesterday afternoon.
Scott - August 4, 2006 4:44 PM
I like those downloadable cricket masks. Those would scare the heebee jesus out of Jays' fans at the dome.
Alan - August 4, 2006 4:59 PM
The Lara mask (at the bottom) is definitely the choice for the discriminating GX40 correspondent out on the town tonight. I expect Queen Street West to be plastered with them after 9:45 pm:<p><center><img src="images/2006d/lara.gif" vspace="15"></center>
Alan - August 4, 2006 5:21 PM
I think this is a sign of the endtimes.
Alan - August 4, 2006 5:30 PM
Planemos. Who would have guessed?
gr - August 4, 2006 5:32 PM
Golly, Alan knows me well! Sure, I have helped myself to a weekend, starting Thursday afternoon. Well, sort of. Today was barn repair day at the parents farm. Fortunately, that was easily done, followed by swimming with dogs, boating and blueberry picking, and an unneccesary sundae. It pays to make the parents GRATEFUL for a little help (heh heh heh).
Now, of course, I work all Saturday and Sunday, but my work is not really work.
Why say, nearly five eastern, well after 5 maritime time.
Alan - August 4, 2006 6:36 PM
Imagine my surprise at finding in the email pile today this record of Gary's day:<p><center><img src="images/2006d/garyswims.jpg" vspace="15"></center>

He: "7:58! Why didn't you set the alarm!?!"<br>
She: "Because you packed the alarm yesterday!!!"
Our favourite lines (after moving so many times) the last years:<br/>
<blockquote>
He: Hon. Have you seen my [mumbling].
She: Yes, it's in a box.
He: Which one?

See, cm, I don't own a speedo, although those are not my new beach shorts with hula girls. I SWEAR I did hard labor before swimming.
cm - August 5, 2006 9:55 AM
It's a tough life, eh gr? Was this before or after the sundae? Oh, speaking of ice cream, I had my first deep fried ice cream last night. Nice! Skipped the chimichanga for the seafood burrito.
Mike - August 5, 2006 12:04 PM
I had a maple-curry penne dish at an Irish pub in Dartmouth NS on Monday. It was maplecurrylicious.
gr - August 6, 2006 12:57 PM
I wonder what holiday you are celebrating in Canada? It is obvious, though, that any weekend in August is worth celebrating.
cm--fried ice cream is a wonder. Look for those chimichangas too.
Alan - August 6, 2006 3:30 PM
It is called "the civic holiday" in most places. Or "the August long weekend" or, in Halifax "Natal Day". Likely other names elsewhere but it is really just an excuse.
cm - August 7, 2006 6:49 PM
For the record: the first Monday in August holiday info.
