I was surprised to find myself in a funk yesterday morning all over one game, the second game the Sox lost to the Jays. The bunt and the save yesterday pulled me back a bit. I'll be OK now. While the natural order of things is the Jays are third to fifth and while there are teams that play beyond their strength against certain teams, it is not the gods at which I shake my fist so much as architects and programmers. Is there anything drearier than listening to the Jay's homegame broadcasts on TV? The announcers are nice people I am sure but there is that manly homer boosterism of Mr. Campbell pushing the limit a tad. To be sure, the bit I have heard from the punning fantastically amazed Angels' home crew makes me a bit grateful so it is really that background sound.
Not Skydome
The Skydome - or whatever it is called now - makes this sound when people are in it. [Tampa Bay's stadium might be the same if anyone went to games there.] The sound is like 3,000 people in a can, echoing like the memory of things you regret. [I suppose I have a bad feeling about the place seeing as whenever I have bought tickets they came with the loud drunk guy in the seat behind.] But that hollow bouncing sound behind the game on TV...I'll have to think about it. There is a metaphor bounding around my brain not unlike trying to have a conversation in the 100-level seats with the person next to you. You can't catch it.

I'm a "reincarnated" Jays fan and I find Jamie Campbell to be very boring to say the least.(bring back Fergie Oliver) On top of that, I find that he calls the game in an unbiased fashion whereas he gets equally excited about a blast by Jason Giambi as he does Troy Glaus. He needs to get his priorities straight.
As for the Jays themselves, THEY ROCK!! Even in a loss, their never say die attitude is what impresses me the most. There is no question that they will be battling for a wildcard in late September.
