I listened on the radio as that ugly echoing crowd of 127 in Tampa Bay cheered on their team 8-7 over the Red Sox. Ortiz was speaking:
The Red Sox and Yankees both have 63 losses, putting the rivals in a virtual tie. The defending World Series champions have 12 games remaining -- including three against New York -- before a postseason in which they hope to be participants. "It's crazy, man. It's not getting any better, you know? It's a game we got to win. We needed it," said Ortiz. "I still say this was a season for us to be 10 games up. The Yankees couldn't play any worse they than they did in the beginning of the season. I might be a little upset. But what can you do? Nothing but keep fighting. It's not over yet."

Ortiz could've mentioned "Jeez, I can't do it all by myself, ya know". Ortiz was to gentlemanly to mention all the heavy lifting he's being doing all season, however, I think you can read it between the lines a little bit, though.
