I have limited entertainment news staff around here and that is probably for the best. But this tidbit of wisdom from one Ms Zellweger is quite interesting so we have brought in extra weekend staff:

Actress Renee Zellweger has said she hopes her split from husband Kenny Chesney after four months can be achieved "as privately as possible". The Oscar-winning star and the country singer are seeking an annulment and Zellweger listed "fraud" as the reason. But she said it was "legal language and not a reflection of Kenny's character". She added: "I would personally be very grateful for your support in refraining from drawing derogatory, hurtful, sensationalised or untrue conclusions."

To be quite fair she may be quite right. In some places you cannot get a divorce under, say, a year unless you allege something beefier than mere disinterest. So where they are diviorcing might need an allegation and, if the alternative is the more specific infidelity, fraud - one of those great medieval legal words like "murder" and "theft" - may just fit the bill. But if there was no fraud, yet fraud is alleged that would be at least derogatory or untrue though they may not be hurtful or sensationalised if the soon to be former Mr. Z is complicitous and consenting in the allegation or action. But it is their court case to frame as they wish.

So she may be right and for the moment, despite our collective disinterest as to the acting career of Renee, we are content with the work product of her new hobbyish dabbling in the law.
