On the upside I got way more Sox coverage than I would have here but being the only obvious source of someone's rescue after a car break-down who is over 1100 km is a bit of a drag. Kingston to Syracuse to Albany to Portland to Brewer to Bangor to Worchester to Syracuse to Kingston with only two tow truck negotiations and a few lessons:
- Burger King chicken lumps are inedible even to a starving five year old yet the Maine portion of the I-90 is monopolized by that chain.
- Worchester is nicer than you would imagine.
- You can find nice things to eat at a Cracker Barrel restaurant if you have driven far enough.
- Everyone in New England, or at least the 27 I spoke with, actually is talking about the Red Sox.
- Coming to the border to find 2 of 9 customs open and a hour and a half wait really sucks.

1. you shoulda stopped. 2. i knew about the nuggests 3. worchester is home of the diner. and 4. if not for the wild card this would be (and still could be) one of those classic sox collapses that peoole tell thier kids about. i'm disgusted. i don't even want the wild card.

I saw the diner. Pat's towing is four blocks from the diner. A hell of a beautiful diner. We had no time to stop. Best looking railway station of all time is in Worschester. I had to listen to the game in Yankees radio after the fourth went the Springfield transmitter faded in the Berkshires.

no no not the diner. THE diner. those railroad car diners that dot the American landscape are Worchestor Diners, invented and built and shipped out of worchestor.

But I saw the one on the main drag that is THE diner of the diner cars.

Pathetic. Even Portland should know its spelled
WORCESTER.
Correctly pronounced, as you know, Wustah.
Next time in Wustah, Maxwell Silverman's is an utterly terrific bar, if still there, and the art museum an extraordinary gem.
Freud visited Wustah, too.
A little unclear on the errand (I'm nosey, yes?) but sounds like a broken down car and......

I thought I had it right. I thought I spelled it 12 ways just to make sure I got it right once. I thought I did right. Worcester? Where did the "h" go?<p>The errand was relatives of the superior generation suffering a breakdown in Maine on a trip between that bit of Canada and this and needing the assistance of a junior generation to get them from east of Bangor back here.

Long trip, and you are a good man. I am throwing out my AAA card (you guys have something like CAA?) and putting your number in my wallet for a change. If I get a flat, lock my keys in, or need a tow, I can call YOU.

Two AAA tows saved the day. I just made sure there cups of tea evenly spaced throughout the trip home.
