McGill University, allegedly named after an alleged relative according to a relative born McGill, has shut down its men's football team's season after charges of hazing were determined to be true:
School officials announced Tuesday that a four-week investigation uncovered hazing rituals performed during "Rookie Night" on Aug. 27. "Hazing is based on humiliation and degradation," said McGill's interim provost Dr. Anthony Masi in a statement. "It has no place at McGill. It will not be tolerated in any form.Good to see. I was never happier to be a Univ. of King's College undergrad (where hazing was barred in the 1920s after a death) when, during in my frosh week, I came upon a group of junior partner Dalhousie University's frosh in the middle of some group degradation lorded over by dorky drunk nasty looking sophomores. "Kings," says I. "Kings" as I pass through the Dal frosh throng on knees bended to their devils, waiting for another degradation comtemplating why they chose not to try for Kings."No excuses. No exceptions."

While at it, they could loose the "Redmen" handle, too. Islanders showed their forward thinking on this issue years ago.
Sensitivity training for college football?

I always thought "Redmen" was because the school colours are red and white.

Hazing sucks. I was the victim once, in high school, as initiation for the field hockey team. I was stripped naked and very potent athletic balm was coated onto and into my entire body and I was left bound by my legs and arms on the floor of the change room and abandonded. I cried in agony until someone heard me. My parents were not impressed, nor was the family doctor.
