The odd thing I have found is that I am a two browser guy these days. I have Firefox as well as Opera's browser from Norway downloaded at both work and home and find I bounce between them for different functions. Both now are tabbed browsers, something I am firmly addicted to now and something Internet Explorer might have but like I am downloading one of those again. I like Opera's little wand password memory widget and also its speed in opening in my pre-caffinated state. It has one less click to open a new tab as well. But there is a weightiness to Firefox that I like. There is no other way to describe the perception I have of its stability. It may be that it merely renders text a little shorter than Opera giving a tad less white space. Not a technical or even descriptive webby comparison I admit but it is me that is looking and feeling, you know. You can fill in the gaps.
Seeing as I know the guy who doodled the first image of the little fox EATING THE PLANET which is the logo for the open source browser...isn't it time we thought about the success of More than 10% of net users are going online with the Firefox browser, show figures from analysis firm One Stat. The global average of 11.5% is the highest percentage of users that the open source browser has ever reached. The research also reveals that Americans are the biggest fans of Firefox with 14.1% using it. In the UK 4.9% use it to get around online.
So MS Internet Explorer still dominates the market at around 85% but those Firefox guys must still be raking it in at 14% of the US market...except its free and made by amateurs.

I've been using Firefox for some time, but I haven't tried Opera yet; will have to give it a go. Thx.

I like Firefox -- I use it for 95% of my browsing -- but I have to shut it down at least once or twice a day, as it starts consuming memory like crazy. Generally when it gets to about 900 Mb, my machine becomes useless till I kill it.
I may give Opera a go yet.

I may be suffering from that memory overload in Firefox. It does seem to bog. Is there a setting that can be changed? I think I set it to clear cache everytime I close it and that did make a difference.

By the way, one thing that is weird with my Opera is that I have to manually refresh to update most blog comments, that sort of thing. Its cache is very sticky in the standard setting.

(Using Windows XP) I just do a CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up the task manage and look at how much memory the system is using, and if it's a lot, look at what FF is doing.

that is weird with my Opera
Opera's Addressbar Autocomplete sucks big time, compared to FF and IE. Programming Autocomplete is an art.
