I am playing with the new camera and the old binoculars. This is the Wolfe Island Ferry this morning on a fairly hazy day looking towards the east at 9 am. It's about 6 km away. Compared to past zooming south experiments, this is pretty good. Click on the photo for the effect of a 3x camera held up to a 8x pair of binoculars, no zooming in photoshop, camera set at 4 MB. The binoculars are fairly cheap ones bought at Canadian Tire 12 years ago for likely about 60 bucks. I am chomping at the bit to try my folk's far snazzier and far steadier focusing MEC-bought binoculars. If we can just get a crisp evening around here, I am sure I will be able to read the license plates at the Salmon Run Mall across in Watertown, NY.
Update:The same view at 3 pm.
