Baseball is about one-third of the way through its season. Didn't the snow just melt? Already Kansas City is 20 games back. Baltimore and the ChiSox are surprising many still by holding their own. And just look at the National League East:
A few days ago Florida was on top.
Team Games Back Washington 0 Atlanta 1/2 NY Mets 1 Philadelphia 1 Florida 1 1/2
A recent lead story in Sports Illustrated pointed out that homers are way down in the new post-drug testing era bringing in a return to little ball where pitching and bunting and getting to first matter. I watched a bit of the Giants and Mets last night and the new world order was evident in that it was actually interesting to follow the playing out of each manager's plans. Maybe I just haven't been watching enough National League ball and I do love watching Ortiz smoke one but I am glad the game has apparently fixed itself.
