For all the blabbification here and in my brain about being a sports fan, I really have never loved the NFL much. I like CFL as a better game. This is what I told myself - better game with poorer players. And that the Grey Cup is always a more exciting game than the Super Bowl. That is still true. Moving near the USA, however, means you get AM sports radio during the day in the car as well as local news coverage of sports and you start to pick a few things up. You also get tied into the local loyalty like the Jets and Mets, teams I never cared for much. Then I did the unbelievable. I subscribed to Sports Illustrated which is not so much about sports as the relationships within sports and the relationship people have to sports...at least for the 51 weeks of the year when it is not a soft pr0n mag. Some findings:
- I have decided that the AFC east - Pats, Jets, Bills, Dolphins - is like the old Norris Division in the NFL and worth following in itself.
- I like the Jets Plymouth Argyle colours and the logo. If I could get New England games on the radio and scores on the local TV I would probably go for them but that is a little too bandwagonny for me even though I did grow up liking them. But that was in my "NFL is a poorer game" days.
- This season sees many great quarterbacks, five of the eight remaining of whom I actually have some sense of. Manning for the Colts is on fire as is Roethlisberger for the Steelers. I have always liked McNabb and as the Philadelphia Eagles also wear Plymouth Argyle green are my favorite NFC team. I appear to like teams wearing that green within a ten hour drive.
- The Jets v. Steelers and the Colts v. Pats games this weekend should be classics and - what is really important for playoff football - should be affected by frosty weather.
- As with CFL, I have absolutely no interest in teams west of the Great Lakes.

Sad last day at work for the Jet's field goal kicker I would say. Missing at 42 yards in a big game is not going to go down too well with the front office. Atlanta was amazing in the second game. I can't see how they will not be in the Super Bowl.

That was amazing. In the second half it was like the Pats were running for no more thatn three or four yards on first and second downs just to eat the clock. A masterclass. The two games next week could be as great again. I think the NFC game will be close. I don't see the Steelers knocking off the Pats.
