Apparently, Nova Scotia's George's Bank - a body of relatively shallow sea, not of financial investment - is enjoying a boom in the haddock catch:
"Lots of haddock on Georges. Phenomenal, I would say," said ground fisherman Milton d'Eon. "I've been fishing for close to 20 years, fish dragging, and it's the most haddock there's ever been since I've been at it on Georges." Thanks to the population explosion, catches in the region may increase by up to 1,000 per cent over the next three years, industry officials said. The simple reversal of the decade and a half of contraction in the fishing catch off of Canada's east coast is reason to celebrate. Even more so to a Bluenoser like me when it is the tastiest of the animals of the sea that is booming. I am frankly stunned by the statement "the industry will start by trying to convince consumers that haddock is an alternative to cod". Surely written by a Newf (whose loyalties can be excused) or someone who has never eaten one in their lives as haddock is clearly the far superior fish.

Agreed! Nothing like lightly breaded Nova Scotia style Fish 'n Chips done with haddock. I used to eat it every day back in my sailing instructor days only because the yacht club restaurant gave me a 40% discount...darn I miss those days.

Kingston Yacht Club? Pilot House? Stick some dulse up your nose and you are virtually home!
