Day four of a cold and a cold snap. I am sick of being sick and that takes a lot. A lot of bad TV and dull web reading. Tiger Balm has failed as has the zymurgic drip. This calls for Polish beet root soup with Franks Red Hot Sauce, Chipolte Tabasco, Habanero sauce and Sambal Oelak. The barszcz bomb. "Barszcz" is the polish spelling of the more common alglicized borscht, the -sz- being an "sh" sound and the -cz- being "ch".
I have an extra supply of barszcz as part of my "Barszcz to Iraq" effort, being my promise six weeks ago to send Brian some packets to try. Today is the day I get them in the mail - promise. As long as the Pats and Eagles win. Brian is not alone. There is a Sally Ann t-shirt parcel for portland and a wedding present sitting on the desk to get into the mail as well. The wedding was last May. Early May. Today I will pack them. Sure I will. Then it will be just Kateland's t-shirt on my list of gratutious promises.
I am the Chairman of the Bored. Last night I spent two hours watching the ugliest hotel room paint jobs in the otherwise excellent 1960 original of Ocean's Eleven. Who knew there were so many tones of medium grey and that they all went with orange?

Not a black and white photo...
I am also playing with stats packages to see if there are differences and whether that can shed any meaning on my blog stats obsessions. I hope the gods of beer root soup lift me from this condition.

I think the script was written in crayon. Sammy Davis Jr., as always, was the best. The singing jazzy-skat-like to the garbage men gathered around the open fire was as nutty a thing as I have ever seen. Where do workers starts a fire 5 feet from the door of your workplace and gather around it to sing?
