Are you still logging referrers? The referrer bot buggar bastards were going nuts in my back room yesterday.

As a matter of general interest, walking back up Queen St, from getting my noonly grease, I met an Al clone .. twice..really gave me a start as I stopped myself from running over to him and kicking his shins.

Nils Ling -

I don't even want to know why you get greased at noon, then see visions of Al. Must be what the referring bot bugger bastards are doing to your backroom.

Nils Ling -

... and Al, I think they're all coming for the enlightened discourse.

Nils: It's sum jeesley good talkin' its true.

Craig: I can manually deduct my direct referral log entries and they are at about 5% of hits but only a smidge of visits - as they NEVER GO AWAY!!! What I am interested in, however, is the RSS visits as I am now for Feb at 53500 RSS visits out of 65000 visits month to date. That is now 82.3% and has been steadily growing for over a year. What may be happening is some sort of RSS spamming of somekind but I have no idea what good that would do anyone as it would not show on google as a Referral of any kind. I suppose if you set up an aggregator site, grab my content and those of others, post it and run Google ads. Is that done?

its not me. i was only here 4000 times yesterday.

alfons -

Alan, that sounds new to me. Could you look up the IP addresses using senderbase.org, and see if they are "zombies" / well-known spam addresses?

alfons -

I don't mean all those xxx,000 ofcourse, just a random selection, of say 5 - 10.

Alan -

I cannot see my individual RSS visitors, alfons, in the way I can see commentator and referral log IP addresses.

I, for one, am human.

...either that, or a robotic study in imperfection.

Checking in from the suburbs of Chicago. You are in my favorites folder and part of my morning rounds.

Alan -

Hail! Everyone say hi to Greg.
