Growing up in a succession of manses, we had family traditions gleaned from as much as taught by the good reverend father at that end of the table and one of them, those values thingies, was not talking incessantly about other perople and certainly not the sexual behaviors of other folk. We just didn't. We had a word for it. Nunya. As in "nunya business". Those two word distill the entire theology behind the golden rule and the judge not rule, the cornerstones of the faith most like forgetting about most days. So reading on Michael's site about something called the "Traditional Values Coalition" and its attacks on the movie Shrek leave me feeling a little confused...kind of like Gary Bettman - and I'm not even someone involved in trying to break the union that is making a fool of me! I am confused in that I am sure I was brought up on good traditional values, knowing there are things we do not go doing, like making up stuff, pointing fingers, finding wickedness where none exists, trying to hide some fuzzy paranoid agenda...just a minute...am I still talking about Bettman or the Traditional Values Coalition? You know, both of them need to be told to "Quit Firing Rocks!" or "Go Run Around the House If You Haven't Anything Better To Do!" or whatever my buddy's Dad Big Joe would say when the kids were getting out of line over nothing. You'd think everyone has enough to eat the way this foolishness gets into the news.
