It should come as no surprise that the political powers that be would seek to influence and control the voices rising to the top of Pajamistanian blog-o-sphere (BTW: remember "information super-highway"? Think "blogosphere" circa 2008). Michael over at Gay Orbit has a couple of great posts today on the issue.
Time to recognize a few realities:
- the relative newness and fragility of this format within the medium of the internet;
- the obvious desire of bloggy authors to achieve something beyond their well-entrenched sense of self-importance;
- the laughable call to "amateur journalism" from Winer, Dean and others with absolutely no resources, co-ordination or, frankly, effort;
- the sudden yet strictly niche effectiveness of blogs; and
- the critical focus against what is being called main-stream media (MSM) much more than the politicians or businessfolk or consultants or other professions, really, of any sort.
