World Cup 2006 fever has done mad here in Casa GX40 what with the crowd of staff, guests and volunteers just dissipating now after this afternoon's announcement of the draw.
Trinidad and Tobago, chosen team of the crowd here at the HQ today, face England in round one and I look forward to a sound thrashing of those overpaid advert hacks from the men - the manly men - who have the first names of accountants. Slide tackles all around, I say. What is the cocktail of choice in Trinidad and Tobago? Some research is needed. Maybe there is one for each island. We'll work on the basis of a rum based punch until we have more information.
If T+T win the World Cup I promise this to each and every one of you. I will change my name to Clive Desmond...or Desmond Clive... in their honour. I will.

This is weird: the Dutch press is talking about the 'pool of death', refering to Argentina, Ivory Coast and Serbia-Montenegro...

Yeah, I was just going to say that there really isn't a 'group of death' this time around.

I think E is the worst with Italy, Ghana, the USA and the Czechs. The Hearts of Oak stuff is going to come out. And the other three teams are all top eight or even four material given a bit of luck.

I think Germany has the easiest ride. Groups C & D are probably the groups fo death for Argentina, Holland, Mexico & Portugal. I'll pick Spain to win it all even though I know virtually nothing about their side and have no affiliation with that country. Also, I hear Brazil usually fields a contender ;)
