This sucks rotten eggs. I love Joe Thornton! Boston loves Joe Thornton! He's been here since he was in diapers (well, 18 yrs. old)! The Bruins can't score, can't defend, can't win, and so they do this? I wanna move to Montreal, dammit.....

I disagree with the above Boston Globe article. Joe hasn't been the problem. The Bruins are a wealthy team: spend a few bucks for talent to back up Thornton's efforts. Of course, Boston traded Babe Ruth, and we all know what happend to the Red Sox after that.........

Brushing up on my French, planning a move north: MERDE! Sacre bleu!

Mike O’Connell should be fired - though me must have had the owner's approval.

Mad Mikes - O'Connel and Milbury.

I feel like somebody traded my Mercedes for 3 Ford Escorts.

Say it ain't so!

I got a Joe Thornton rookie card for sale now.

If it were for Jean Ratelle and Brad Park, that would be something. But this likely ain't that.

"The Bruins are a wealthy team: spend a few bucks for talent to back up Thornton's efforts."

There's thing called a salary cap this year in the NHL. The Bruins were at the limit before the trade and were paying Glen Murray, Brian Leetch and Alexie Zhamnov around $4 million each. They're spending money and they have talent.

There are plenty of reasons the Bruins have been sucking eggs but a lack of spending isn't one of them.

Joe has been lazy, really lazy, this year. His numbers this year are in spite of his play, not because of it. He should be at the top of the scoring race.

But yes, the Mercedes/Escort analogy is perfect. It's the same thing I was tinking last night. I can understand trading Thornton but they should have been able to get a much better return. Now they have a surplus of grinders and muckers and no center to set up their $4 million goal scorer.

Not that there's anything wrong with Escorts. But hey, trade a top talent for a....top talent!

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- If Joe Thornton keeps this up, he will quickly shed any lingering disappointment about being traded.

He certainly made a memorable first splash in the Shark Tank.

Thornton assisted on his new team's first goal, then scored later in the opening period to lead the San Jose Sharks to their third straight victory in his home debut, 5-3 over the Atlanta Thrashers on Tuesday night.

Thornton had a pair of assists in each of his first two games with the Sharks and already has six points for rejuvenated San Jose since being acquired last Wednesday from Boston in a blockbuster deal that sent Marco Sturm, Brad Stuart and Wayne Primeau to the Bruins.

"We're 3-0 and scored 15 goals since we picked up Thornton," Sharks coach Ron Wilson said. "It's kind of nice the things you were hoping would happen with the trade have."
