Will the hike in gas prices keep me from the State Fair and a fishy feed at Rudy's this long weekend? Our 9.5 hours on the road this weekend pretty much ate 80 bucks. It used to be, say, $45 or $50 and I never noticed it. I notice 80 bucks.
The upside is that a round trip to the Fair is only 4 hours. And I just have to see this year's butter sculpture. I just got to. You can find last year's here amongst all the other pics.

Will you be on another frozen custard binge? As I recall at the NY state fair, there are competitions such as longest cucumber, softest cow, tastiest apple pie, and perhaps now a new category: Alan's favorite frozen custard.

I am focusing on Cornell chicken this year. It is quite a blast just walking the snack shack aisles. I don't recall custard from last year's visit though.
