An update from Environment Canada:
For more northern portions of the warned area..Rainfall amounts of up To 50 millimetres are expected. However further south..And in particular for regions closer to the track of the system including the Niagara Peninsula and eastern Ontario from Trenton to Kingston And along the north shore of the St Lawrence to the Québec border.. Rainfall amounts will range from 50 to 100 millimetres with local amounts up to 125 millimetres possible. While heavy rainfall will be the main threat from this system.. Locally strong wind northeast gusts up to 70 km/h will also be possible especially for regions near the south shore of Lake Ontario and over the higher ground of the Niagara Escarpment.
125 mm is 5 inches, right? About half the height of the screen you are looking at right now.

All of which is immediately put into perspective by this sad sad news from New Orleans's CBS outlet's website:
3:25 P.M. - With conditions in the hurricane-ravaged city of New Orleans rapidly deteriorating, Gov. Kathleen Blanco said Tuesday that people now huddled in the Superdome and other rescue centers need to be evacuated. The situation is untenable," Blanco said during a news conference.
