Is this the Sunday mid-afternoon of summer? Knowing that the end is coming, the crazy party time is past? It felt nippy this evening...meaning it was as warm as a month ago on the coast. Sleeping weather. Planning activities in a few weeks that will require pants and socks getting packed. Dreaming of roasted root vegetables and fresh new apples. This but not yet this.

Felt the same today...and after unpacking yet another box and attending a family funeral (all too soon) travelled up to Herrels on Erb Street to get some pickeled beets, a pie and husk some corn- just to scratch that early fall itch. It's the same urge as buying canned beans and stocking up the 'fruit cellar'. Something in the quality of the air tonight that makes the fall all so real.

Sorry to hear.
Hey - are you going to write on my blog now? If you check the archives you will see that pie is the best word in the English language.

Yes, when I have something to contribute...although pie is not my specialty, the other half certainly enjoys looking for the out of the way diners which serve mile high pie. I haven't checked the archives but I have two weeks of vacation left.

I have a friend out west, from the days in the picture posted today, who runs a lot and has maintained his girlish figure. But he runs not to be fit. He runs to eat pie every day. Wouldn't the world be better if places like Runners World and magazines like Fitness Monthly were renamed to reflect the wishes of the pie-eating community?
I am sure I mentioned that somewhere in the 2201 posts. Search engine to the far lower right.
