Hurricane Ivan and Me
Looks like a soaker next Sunday or Monday. Francis dropped 4 or 5 inches here last week but this one looks like it may be even worse.

It's nice and considerate of Ivan to go around most of Florida. I'm sure Floridians appreciate it. Maybe they'll send him a card or something.
"Dear Ivan,
Have fun in the Gulf states. Stop by some other year when we've had some time to fix the place up a bit.
Sincerely,
Florida
PS- Try not to sink New Orleans. We need someplace to go to forget our Bible thumping ways every March.

At the speed it is travelling and how quickly it will die down when hitting land, you might not have much to worry about :) But then again, anything is possible ;)

Spoken like a real Gulf of St. Lawrence resident. The slower the more dangerous and powerful they are and as soon as it hits land it will start to take off like a top on a griddle dumping all the water its been holding up seven miles thick in the air. Francis hit land 600 miles farther from me that this one will so there will be more water still held up when it hits us. A real danger is if it actually should get to the Great Lakes with any sort of eye like Hurricane Hazel did in the late 50s. That would be really bad.

With pictures like this one http://www.osei.noaa.gov/iod.html .....it is kinda re-assuring that you got nothing to worry about :P

I tell you, this one is getting inland. I wonder if a hurricane eye has ever moved up teh Mississippi, getting power out of that water for a while.
