NBC's Tom Brokaw is at it again, as INDC points out - as the only US TV broadcast news service without major Canadian ties, it is to be expected, of course...the panicy man worried that there are people on the internets talking to each other, sharing dissatisfaction with the state of political information communication. It all strikes me as a bit like local politicians in the 20s and 30s being ticked off because people were finding out what was going on outside their rotten borough because of telephone and radio.
Don't get me wrong. I think that there is a lot of knee-jerk right wing ding bats yapping on with little to add out there. But at least they are yapping and the moderates and lefties should pick it up as well. Plus, these are not monkeys and even the dimmest light bulb can shed some light. I no longer look at the newspapers I pick up on Saturday morning as authority but they are still the starting point. Until that great day that the internet gets organized, gets resources and bloggers or their successors work together it is going to be the same Tower of Babel - incoherent, embarassing and confusing. But there is something in there. Calling it names will only make it angry.
