One of the oddest thing about the downtown Remembrance Day services is that they were plural. One is held at City Park with an artillery piece, one at a navy memorial on Ontario Street and the big one on Water Street by the martello at Murney Point. I caught the navy officers in the first photo setting up their service before anyone had shown up. They were testing the microphone very officially. Felt a little odd to go past a Remembrance Day ceremony to get to one. Next year we decided we were going to the little navy one. There was a big turn-out at the main gathering, maybe twelve deep, lots of ranks from lots of services. Even the army guys jump a bit when the artillery goes off. Coldest part of the day was the middle of the service when ice pellets fell.
