Boy was that ugly yesterday. From the unlinkable Toronto Star's report:
"Fans were throwing whatever — beer and pop — at the bench," he said later, after this Sunday Bloody Sunday had finally come to an end, and quite a while after his own afternoon had come to a miserable conclusion, more an act of pity on coach Pat Quinn's part than a public indictment..Eddie Belfour was a door left open, Brian McCabe was the best passer for the other team and the Flyer's Primeu looked eight feet tall. Amazing to watch a hockey game go ugly. At least Domi had the decency for the hockey pool players to freak out and get a misconduct and a game misconduct, adding 20 points to whoever-picked-him total with 27 points separating #1 from #10. Dandy. The jeers of EDDIE! EDDIE! — a reverse spin on the familiar chant that Belfour hears so often back at the Air Canada Centre, insofar as he registers any of this — had followed Toronto's stalwart netminder into the dressing room at 7:03 of the second period, on the heels of a brutal goal by Michal Handzus that had elevated the score to a ridiculous 6-1 for Philadelphia. The improbably crooked numbers were at that point a mirror image of the 6-1 result from Game 7 of the opening round last year, against these Flyers, a disastrous case of déjà vu for Belfour, in this same rink.
