This is kind of weird. At the side door of city hall, there is a fairly grand and fairly worn out three bulb light fixture which I have never really had a good look at before. At the base of the entire thing is this sea creature. The other side is utterly rusted out. There is a matching one on the other side of the building.
I can't figure out if its it supposed to be some sort of evil winged trout cat thingie and if it is...what is that supposed to mean? Wouldn't it have been nice if the Victorians had left some guidebooks around to their kookie symbolism.
Should any of you like to suggest the moral guidance we can draw from this sculpted image, please feel free to provide your suggestions. Or is it some elaborate joke on the artisan's future:
