Watched the first two hours of the PBS series Colonial House this evening about a 17 person pretendy settlement on the coast of New England. Besides the fact that they got to be within shouting distance of Dipietro's of South Portland, they sit there eating dried peas, salt beef and oatmeal when they are next to the sea. For God's sake, get down to the beach and start eating the shorelife. I'd be the fattest lad in the land, stuffed with dulse, oysters and mussels. And really...55 gallons of ale for 17 people for five months. Historical falsehood of the highest order. Funny to see the first thing that happens of the boat is everyone get stomach ailments. Still, it is not too phoney and is more about people coping with the 400 year reversal of time than just showing them in character.
