The big difference between yesterday's debacle and that spring day in 1994 is that when we turned up at the ICA to plug in our equipment little really depended on it. We are increasingly dependent on computer networks I would have been embarrassed if we had nothing to show for our efforts, but it was after all just a bit of fun. Things are a lot more serious now. If my e-mail does not get through then I really notice it, because my friendships and work depend on it.After almost 11 months of blogging, about five years of studying and working on IT from a legal perspective and eight years of surfing, I have a similarly creeping feeling about the medium. Did people in the 30's think the same thing about the telephone...in the 50's about television? I remember a senior lawyer ten years ago speaking regretfully about the advent of photocopiers as his files were far less complicated. He was actually able to maintain a successful practice 40 years earlier based on monthly "letters" files.

a robut is a little more sensitive and much better looking than the typical robot. and it's programmed to not get all persnickity if its robut friends are a just a little bad at grammer and spelling. robuts are kind. when i die i'm going to be downloaded into a robut. when you go it'll be all "hey look at me, i'm a robot, i'm a robot, don't spilt your infinitives, watch the adverbs modifying a noun, i'm a big old robot, look at me, look at me!" but robuts will rule the world. you big jerk. but then i guess i started this so......
