I just came upon the Ecotone group blog / wiki and am looking forward to rooting through its corners. I along, with Craig and Rob1 and others, am starting to think that stand alone blogs are too isolating - witness Donna's good questions. Ecotone may have something to offer. There is something chummier about Ecotone compared to, say, a simple group blog. I suppose it would mainly depend on topic - as well as the formality and complexity of structure which would only be demanded where you have a formal and complex topic. The Accordian Guy wrote yesterday about the problems of inept and over complicated community building exemplified in Friendster and Orkut - I love the derogative "orkquaintences".
The good thing about blogs is their simplicity - the bad is the problem of being simple alone. It is a pretty nice thing is getting up to find, like today, about six different correspondents having added good comments on various topics. I just wonder how that can be turned from being a spoked hub to more of an interlaced cat's cradle.
