Some people just know it is time to go for the brass ring, the gusto, the gold. But sometimes they are wrong:

Christopher Pendery, 27, from Loughborough caused nearly £15,000 worth of damage to his rented house. He admitted causing criminal damage as he converted a loft into a bedroom. Leicester Crown Court heard on Wednesday that one surveyor described it as "the most dangerous inhabited property" he had seen in 11 years.

I deeply believe we are each, in part, really stunned in our own special way and that is one of the glories of existence...but...sawing through the roof trusses and using thin chip board for flooring? You gotta love the criminalization of this activity under English law - and putting yourself in a position where your lawyer has to say: "It does not make him a bad man, just a stupid one."
