The best news from last night's election is clearly the return of Ed Broadbent to Parliament. I figure he will ream out Martin and Harper and Duceppe for being impractical and then ream out Layton for good measure. It's going to be the cranky old Ed show in daily Question Period. Excellent.

The NDP will have quite a line up with 2 ex leaders and Layton. Ed the "elder" will be quite a handful and I think helpful. Will he just ream or might the NDP introduce a note of civility?

Ed reaming is a wonderful thing and, for me, civilized. My favorite Parlimentarian was the late Stanley Knowles who could chastize postively. Like a school principal plus a presbyterian minister with a bit of the union leader mixed in. Righteous without being from the right.
