While I do not buy for one minute the needy line that people who write these sorts of blogs are somehow journalists, I am realizing on journalistic moment this morning - for the first time in three months there is no NHL playoff pool, no federal election, no Euro 2004. Jeese, even Iraq has its own government all of a sudden. The summer doldrums have hit.
Topics for the summer? Canning and other food preservation techniques? Six weeks to the Olympics. I trust my coverage of the Cambodian archery team in the lead-up will be unmatched.

Heh! I look forward to it. Seriously, the Olympics is one sporting event I try and make a point of watching.

I am a bit too aware of its fascist aspect to be all lovey over the Olympics but I am a sucker for any television extravaganza. I remember the 1978 commonwealth games were on CBC about 15 hours a day and I would go to sleep at 13 years old actually hearing the mutterings of TV announcers in my head. I am the TVs pal.

So jaded Alan! We'll be glued to the TV too, though, sadly, we'll flip back and forth between CBC and NBC, picking holes in each ones coverage. Until they start, I suppose we could always whine about the heat, for lack of more interesting topics.

Can you say Olympic Football?
