I got a pressy yesterday - a new beer book called Brewed in Canada, a 2001 history of brewing in this fair land by Allen Winn Sneath. Thing is - I did not buy it. I saw something on eBay that Melda would like, got it, shipped it, Mel says it is going to a third party so I'll pay ya and when she did she sent a beer book. That was great. A tough pick too as I have now pushing about 35 beer books and that was not one of them. I should stick a list up here somewhere of the inventory in case anyone else wants to send me a beer book.
Beer books are interesting in that the authors are like Spinal Tap drummers and the authors sometimes have funny names (viz supra) while others win big prizes. Some of my earlier reviews of books on beer are here and here. I have also a problem with books on soccer, having picked up The Arsenal Collection - which has a photo from the Aston Villa game in Feb. 1980 which I was at; Rebels for the Cause: the Alternative History of Arsenal Football Club by Jon Spurling; and Futebol: Soccer the Brazilian Way. Having said that, I do not think of buying books as a problem in the way that buying new cars over, say, $25,000 Canadian is. It is a private thing, not for show, born of the days of the flashlight under the blankets.

Al - soooo glad that it wasn't one that you already had. Phew. I was crossing my fingers buying it.
Dad arrives tomorrow and i will do my best to convey with words his elation. No promises that words will be adequate.
Thank you again.

Get a picture of his face with elation or the "WTF!?!?" look.
