CBC radio is doing some fancy footwork during the summer and playing something other than repeats. I caught Sunny Days and Nights on Saturday morning which is largely a reprise of the characters from the mid to late 1990's Great Eastern - obit for the show here. Both shows are from fictional Newfoundland radio stations affiliated with the CBC which presents a fairly twisted view of life in Canada's most easterly and youngest province. Shows on the Great Eastern included a cooking show call "Paul's Pot", two butchers discussing techniques on "Variety Meats" and announcements for a radio soap opera called "Please Make it Stop". The transmitters were coal fired. The main host on each show is Paul Moth, who apparently did much in the way of recreational pharmaceuticals and is accordinly driven by ghosts of his past. He has a blog.
Worth catching. Oddly, the announcer who did the ads for Furlong Knobs, Anne Budgell, is covering Brent's afternoon show All In A Day. I keep expecting to hear about the Friends of Unpasteurized Cheese.
