The cornerstone of St Mary’s Roman Catholic Cathedral is laid; the building is completed in 1848, and greatly enlarged in 1889 by architect Joseph Connolly (1840-1904).You can take an internet tour. Just as easy that way. I had to go half way down the next block to get the whole thing in the picture.
